Performance
There are multiple powertrain options for drivers when choosing a Chevy Silverado. The basic engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that offers an incredible 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, so even the standard engine can tow a modicum of weight when necessary. There are two eight-cylinder engines; a 6.2-liter V8 and a 5.3-liter V8. A 6.2-liter powertrain is an option in the higher level trims, offering up to 420 horsepower.
Those who may consider a diesel engine for their Silverado 1500 can choose the 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax engine.
Drivers tout the quickness and agility of the Chevy Silverado, no matter what powertrain is chosen. One especially nimble trim is the Trail Boss, which has a factory lift kit, trim-specific tires, and upgrades to the suspension and underbody to make off-roading easier.
The max towing capacity of the Silverado is 13,300 pounds, but this will require either the 6.2 liter V8 powertrain or the diesel Duramax to achieve this capacity. The 5.3-liter V8 powertrain is rated to tow about 11,000 pounds, while the base four-cylinder motor is rated to tow just over 9,000 pounds. The max payload of the Chevy Silverado ranges from 1,870 pounds to 2,280 pounds.
Interior
Drivers often brag about the snazzy cabin of the Chevy Silverado. Trim packages allow drivers to choose from a wealth of features to outfit the Silverado's interior. The Work Truck is just that; options in the base Silverado package include the basics - manual seats, manual windows, and manual locks. Vinyl seats are also standard at that trim.
However, one who chooses the LTZ or High Country trims will have most every luxury that anyone could dream of, including leather upholstery, a sunroof, and open-pore wood trim. The Silverado may be configured as a single, double, or extended cab. There are three truck bed lengths to choose from - regular, long and short. Drivers must remember that not all cab configurations are available with all bed lengths.
For instance, drivers choosing a regular cab may only be able to choose between a regular and long-length bed. Some trims do not offer the regular cab option.
Safety
Chevrolet combines technology with safety features to keep drivers trucking down the road. In addition to several driver assists, including lane departure warnings and pedestrian detection, upper trims offer Super Cruise. This may be integrated with trailering packages to offer upgraded safety features.
Technology
Most Silverado trims have access to an infotainment system using a touchscreen monitor, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a mobile hotspot. Some trims offer integration with Amazon Alexa software. However, drivers are still able to utilize physical buttons as well as the touchscreen monitor.
